Welcome!

mucilage cropThe Bennett lab is currently focused on plant-microbe interactions and, specifically, the association of N2 fixing microbes with the extracellular mucilage of cereal crops.  The research started in 2010 with the identification of an indigenous landrace of maize with extensive mucilage secretion and the capacity fix most its nitrogen from the atmosphere.
